Biographical Information

Patrick J. Alach, Esq., is an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of California and is a founding partner of Longo & Alach LLP. His practice areas include all aspects of Entertainment Law, Business Law, Nonprofit Law, First Amendment Law, Privacy Law and Legislative Advocacy. Mr. Alach has been quoted in numerous press articles concerning the groundbreaking California anti-paparazzi laws enacted in 2009 and 2010, including such publications as the Wall Street Journal, US News & World Report, Huffington Post, FoxNews.com among others, and has appeared in various television and radio broadcasts, including the E! Channel's "Bigger, Badder Celebrity Feuds" special, regarding the clash between paparazzi and celebrities' privacy.

Servicing a broad range of clients with both litigation and transactional needs, Mr. Alach is uniquely positioned to provide comprehensive advice on the interrelationship between contract language and litigation outcomes. He represents actors, visual artists, production companies, film financiers, musicians, restaurant groups, large and small businesses, nonprofit organizations, public and private figures, and advocates on behalf of the Paparazzi Reform Initiative in the California State Legislature to advance and support fundamental privacy rights.

Mr. Alach authored the influential and widely cited law review article, "Paparazzi and Privacy", published in the Loyola Entertainment Law Review in January 2009. The California State Legislature adopted the legal theories contained in "Paparazzi and Privacy" and used them as a basis to successfully amend California's anti-paparazzi statute, Civil Code §1708.8, in 2009. The following year, Mr. Alach and Longo & Alach LLP provided additional language for legislation to curtail invasive paparazzi conduct and protect Californians' privacy rights. Several of these proposals were accepted and enacted in 2010. Longo & Alach LLP's legislative efforts to bolster Californians' privacy rights are ongoing.

During the Summer of 2008, Mr. Alach worked as a Summer Associate at preeminent entertainment law firm Lavely & Singer, P.C., and assisted on various high-level intellectual property, defamation, contract and privacy disputes. During the Summer of 2007, Mr. Alach worked as a Summer Clerk at a prominent Mid-Atlantic law firm, Saul Ewing LLP.

Mr. Alach graduated from Loyola Law School – Los Angeles as a member of the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society, the membership of which is reserved to the Top 15% of the law school class. While at Loyola, Mr. Alach served as both a Staff Writer and Chief Articles Editor of the Loyola Entertainment Law Review. Mr. Alach also served as a Student Mentor, helping law students develop successful study plans and focused exam preparations. Additionally, Mr. Alach served as Professor Robin Kar's Research Assistant.

Mr. Alach obtained his undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. He received Bachelors Degrees in both History and Philosophy, and was a member of the National Dean's List.
