Railroad Worker Injury:

Workers Covered by FELA

The Federal Employees Liability Act exists to protect railroad workers who are injured on the job. Rail workers covered by this law include:

  • Engineers
  • Brakemen
  • Switchmen
  • Other railroad employees who are hurt on the job

Railroad workers who usually do not spend the majority of their time in or around trains, such as office workers, can still be protected under FELA if they become injured. In most cases, any worker employed by a railroad company will be protected under FELA.
