Terra Carroll is a Florida native, having grown up on the east coast in Vero Beach. As an undergraduate student, Terra worked two jobs to be capable of being a community college student. In addition to full time college enrollment and full time emplyment, Mrs. Carroll interned with the Public Defender's Office in Ft. Pierce, as well as volunteered with the local Guardian Ad Litem Program in Vero Beach. After graduating from Indian River Community College, with two Associates degrees in 2003, Terra continued her education in Orlando, at the University of Central Florida. While in Orlando Mrs. Carroll continued to work full time while a full time student, and graduated in May 2005 with her Bachelors Degree. As Terra began law school at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, her intentions were to sue the State of Florida for the foster care system "screwing up my childhood." While at UF, Terra had the opportunity to study abroad in South Africa. This would be Terra's first time ever on a plane, first time outside of Florida, since the age of 3 and the best summer of her life.En route to Tampa for the two day Florida Bar Exam in 2008, Terra danced with a semi-truck in a dodge neon. As the officer handed over the police report, he wished Mrs. Carroll good luck and advised the only reason she alive was because "God had his hands on me." Terra arrived in Tampa, slept three hours and did as she always does "hit the ground running." A law school classmate would contribute to her "having the heart of a tiger." Mrs. Carroll passed and has been licensed Florida Attorney since 2008. Terra began her career as an Assistant Public Defender in the Twelfth Judicial Circuit in 2008, her favorite word is TRIAL, and she's a tough opponent. Mrs. Carroll graduated law school intending to spend her entire career at the Public Defender's Office, because "I grew up in the hood and I know the poor representation and harsh sentences our community receives." Terra left the PD's office in 2011 with the intent to attend the Bill Clinton School for Public Service but her significant trial experience, reminded her that her heart belongs to criminal law and justice. Terra has significant trial experience in all areas of criminal law, from misdemeanor experience to felony trial experience which includes a murder trial. Mrs. Carroll handles all State and Federal Criminal Charges as well as Criminal Appeals and looks forward to utilizing her talents and skills for a long time to come. Terra is licensed to practice in all Florida Courts as well as Federal Courts. She is a member of the Florida Bar, Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and American Bar Association. Lastly, Mrs. Carroll would like for you to know "being an attorney was an impossible dream for me 10 years ago, but it was a seed that only God could have planted in my heart, when asked why I choose the Florida Bar Exam rather than the Hospital the night of my car accident, I tell people I didn't ask him for a law degree, I asked him to be an Attorney. I'm one of the few people who can say they looked into the eyes of a semi, stepped from the vehicle with no more than scratches and continued chasing my destiny. I'm going to be the first black woman and the first Florida Gator to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court. I tell people the secret to my success is my faith!"
