Medical Device:

Medtronic Defibrillators

In Feb. 2005, a wire defect was found in the Medtronic implantable defibrillators, Sprint Fidelis. The lead could possibly break, causing the device to malfunction. The defibrillator could then deliver unnecessary shocks to the patient or fail to deliver shocks when needed. The Sprint Fidelis models have been implanted in over 250,000 patients.
