Defective Baby Car Seats

In May 2007, Evenflo Company recalled its Embrace Infant Car Seats because of a malfunctioning handle. The company warned that when the seat was used in the carrier mode, the handle could release causing the infant to fall. Approximately 160 injuries occurred in children including a skull fracture, two concussions, scrapes, cuts and bruises.

Baby seats are designed to protect children from injuries in car accidents. Unfortunately, some contain defects including sudden releases, weak construction and defective handles. Millions of infant car seats sold since 2001 have been recalled because of weak shells, defective harness systems and flammable materials.
