I have a friend who has a son that is being charged with manufacturing meth and position of a narcotic. he is 18 years old .He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. he agreed to ride with a friend to help him move a girl friend out of her home. when they were getting ready to leave she asked the boys if they would put the last two boxes in their car because she had no room left. as they pulled away following the girl the police surrounded the vehicle . they went straight to the trunk where the boxes were. they found packs of ephedrine and something called a box of heat. The 18 yr old did not have a clue what was in the box's. they were taken to jail and both posted bail or bond. During the questioning of the 18 yr old he was asked to sign over on the other male whom is 37 yrs old.and he would be free to go in fact they offered to drive him home a five hour ride. but he did not sign thinking he did not know what was going on and that they would see they were innocent. come to find out, the girl had been busted before and was asked to nark on someone. she met the 37 yr male 3 months before this happened and simply used him for a target to get out of trouble the police even knew what was going on . she told them to be3 at her place at a certain time and they were there as well as the 2 men . not knowing they were getting set up. my question is how do we know the 37 male wont come forward and turn on the 18 male seeing he did not take full responsibility for this incident in the beginning?and how can they charge someone for manufacturing drugs and position when it was not on his person nor was it his car. should he just go ahead and do what the investigator asked him to do if its not to late before the trial or wait and let a jury decide? Has your friend spoken to a lawyer about the situation her son is facing? Given that he is so young and seemingly just in the wrong place at the wrong time, it would be very unfortunate if these circumstances were to negatively impact his future. A defense lawyer would have the best knowledge of what course of action the 18 year old should follow, whether that be trying to work out a deal, cooperating with the investigators, or fighting to get the charges dropped.
