First, a personal injury lawyer should be brought in early in the process.  Most attorneys work on a contingency fee basis, but you should look out for hidden fees, such as storage fees, which you could negotiate with the attorney.

As far as who you should hire, the biggest complaint clients have about their attorney is lack of communication.  Lawyers are notorious for failing to respond to their clients, leading to confusion and frustration.  You should also look into his or her track record and settlements.

If you're injured in a car accident due to another driver's negligence, there is no guarantee your medical bills will be covered by that driver's car insurance company; or, if you are paid, that you will be justly compensated.

You should also know it’s not necessary to hire an attorney for all personal injury scenarios. You have to hire personal injury lawyer in the following situations.

1. If you were injured seriously.
2. If your injury caused by someone else.
3. Is the company refusing to pay or offering an unreasonably low amount?
4. Are you comfortable with the law and the settlement process?
