My aunt passed away recently and for the last 4 years we have been living in her home and making the payments, while she has lived in an institution.  She had recieved disability for many years and now, we have recieved notice form the socail securtity admin that the house must be turned over to them to sell for repayment of funds payed to my aunt over the years.  This will leave my family homeless.  The home is now paid off because of us.

Had we not taken over the payments, the bank would have taken the house 4 years ago.  Can SSI really do this? My aunt left no will.  Is there any laws that could help us keep our home? We are in CA
