I'm not sure if this counts as personal injury, but I recently found out that my pictures were used online to promote a porn website. I didn't grant this website permission to use my pictures, and in fact, I've never had any contact with them. I assume they took the pictures off of my facebook or some other online medium.
What is my course of action in this case? Should I notify the police? And also, can I bring any kind of lawsuit against the website since they are making money off of my pictures without my permission AND defaming my name/reputation by associating my person with a porn site?
Because they are using your picture for promotion, you do have a right to profit from them. I'm not a lawyer but it seems you could have a case for libel since they are damaging your reputation. You should contact a lawyer, many offer free consultations. He or she can offer you a next step.
