Criminal Law:

Child Abuse

Broadly defined, as it is in many states, child abuse is any type of cruelty inflicted upon a child. This includes mental abuse, physical harm, neglect, and sexual abuse or exploitation. In instances of child abuse, the specific crimes charged can include, in some cases, assault and battery. Many states require certain individuals and caregivers to report suspected child abuse.
