Zachary DeCurtis McDonald

Biographical Information

Since graduating from law school, Zac has practiced almost exclusively in the fields of consumer bankruptcy and family law. He relocated to Columbia, MO to join his wife who recently accepted a position as an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri.

Prior to opening the McDonald Law Firm in Columbia, for a number of years Zac was an Attorney in a Consumer Bankruptcy Law Firm in New York, and also served as Of Counsel to another bankruptcy law firm. Bankruptcy proved to be both a challenging and rewarding area of the law. Zac enjoys working within the complex and rather nuanced rules of bankruptcy. The real reward from this area of the law comes from helping clients receive the fresh start they most desperately need. Zac understands that financial issues are never financial alone. Financial difficulties can have a reverberating effect throughout all aspects of one's life. It can place great strain on a marriage, on relationships with friends, and even have a negative impact on employment. Understanding the complexities of bankruptcy law is necessary, but it is not the only tool necessary to help individuals who find themselves in financial difficulties. Zac recognizes that having a firm grasp of bankruptcy law and an understanding of a client's specific life circumstances, will provide his clients with the fresh start they deserve and desire.

Zac has also spent a number of years practicing Family Law. He has had the opportunity to help hundreds of individuals and families in all aspects of family law, be it through gaining much needed visitation for a non-custodial parent, acquiring an order of protection, or achieving a modification of custody, visitation, or support when circumstances required it. Zac takes great pride in having helped clients in what are often the most important aspects of their lives, their finances and their families.
