A private contractor will still have to pay $6.5 million dollars in the 2004 death of a Fort Benning soldier. A federal appeals panel upheld the verdict. Private Van Ryan Marcum died on June 19, 2004, when he leaned back against the metal exterior wall of a latrine and was electrocuted.
