SWAIN COUNTY STILL WAITING FOR MOST OF ITS SMOKIES SETTLEMENT MONEY

Swain County has not done much with its North Shore settlement money yet other than watch it accumulate. Interest on the $12.8 million the federal government has paid so far means there was a total of $13.8 million earlier this fall in accounts the state of North Carolina holds for the county.
