Stephen A Land

Biographical Information

Stephen A. Land is a highly-respected attorney with 35 years of in-depth experience in family law and civil litigation. He is an expert in divorce, property division, custody and child support issues as well as paternity orders of legitimation, adoption, relocation, visitation, parenting plans and modification matters.

Steve is a former Fulton County District Attorney and a member of the American and Atlanta Bar Associations, the State Bar of Georgia, and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. He has received the highest rating under Martindale Hubbell's Peer Review Rating process.

A firm believer in the power of mediation, Steve is a pragmatist who uses his negotiating expertise to grasp the key issues of a dispute and expedite resolutions in even difficult cases. Following the philosophy that mediation is the preferred method of conflict resolution and litigation is the absolute last resort, he stresses that "going to court" leads to increased hostility, estrangement of children and other family members, overwhelming financial burdens and unnecessary emotional stress.

Steve served in the J.A.G. unit of the United States Air Force as a Captain. He received his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School and graduated cum laude from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. He has been quoted in many Atlanta publications on the subjects of divorce, child support and other family law issues.
