Robert E Heyman

Biographical Information

Attorney Robert E. Heyman grew up in Barrington ,RI. During that time, he was extremely active in sports, particularly baseball, and was active in school government. He also attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Following high school graduation, he attended Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida and obtained a BA degree in Political Science, with a minor concentration in Economics. While at Eckerd he played varsity baseball and was a pitcher on the 1977 team which advanced to the finals of the Division II College World Series.

In 1979, Mr. Heyman enrolled at Stetson University College of Law and thereafter graduated with a JD degree in 1982. He participated as a member of the Intercollegiate Moot Court team in 1981-82.

Upon graduation in 1982 he accepted a position as an Assistant State Attorney for the 6th Judicial Circuit of Florida in Pinellas County ( Clearwater) , Florida and worked in that capacity until 1997. During his years as a prosecutor, Mr. Heyman personally tried in excess of 100 jury trials, including 25 First Degree Murders, together with other complicated prosecutions for drug trafficking, bank robbery and sexual battery. He served as Felony Division Director from 1992 until his departure in 1997 to enter private practice.

Since 1997, Mr. Heyman has concentrated his practice in Personal Injury and Criminal Trial Law, first in Palm Harbor, Florida, and since 2008 at the Heyman Law Firm, PA in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. He handles all types of injury cases including auto accidents, premises liability, negligent security and medical malpractice. Criminal cases include all charges from DUI to serious felonies including drug offenses, sexual offenses and homicide.

Mr. Heyman has been awarded the highest "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell and a "Superb" 10.0 rating from the Avvo attorney rating website. He lives in St. Petersburg with his wife, Lorrie and their two daughters.
