One of my favorite quotes is from George Washington Carver: "No man has a right to pass through life without leaving behind distinct and legitimate reasons for having passed through it." I believe helping people and trying to be a benefit to those around me and those people I represent is the best way for me to give substance to that quote. I am blessed to be married to the former Kelly Langan of Mobile and we have three great children, Lesley, Mitchell and Alli. We attend Christ Presbyterian Church in Daphne where my wife and I currently serve on the Mission Committee.

I graduated from public high school in Montgomery, Alabama. G.W. Carver High School class of '77. My father was a non-commissioned officer in the Air Force and our family lived in numerous locations before landing in Montgomery in the 70′s. I worked a number of jobs while attending undergraduate school at the University of Alabama including, electrical construction work, loading and unloading trailers, retail sales and I was a Resident Manager for Rose Towers, a student apartment complex on the campus of Alabama.

I received my undergraduate degree in 1983 from the University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Commerce & Business Administration with a major in Corporate Finance and Investment Management. I received the Wall Street Journal Achievement Award for my work as President of the Finance Society. Upon graduation I entered the University of Alabama School of Law where I was an elected officer in the Student Bar Association, a member of the nationally ranked Jessup International Moot Court Team, a member of the Bench & Bar Honor Society, recipient of the Outstanding Third Year Law Student Award and I was a Research Assistant for Professor Nathaniel Hansford, Assistant Dean. I also worked nights as a security guard at the law school. I began practicing law in 1987 with a large law firm located in Mobile, Alabama and in 1989 I started a small general practice law firm with the Hon. Elizabeth H. Shaw. As a general practitioner I gained valuable litigation experience in a wide variety of cases. My law practice continued to expand in the area of personal injury litigation and in 1994 I became a member of the civil litigation firm of Sigler, Moore, Clements & Wolfe. In 1999, I moved to our firm's present location at 1252 Dauphin Street where my practice continues in the area of personal injury work for victims and their families.

I have successfully litigated hundreds of auto-negligence cases to verdict and have attained Advocate status through the American Association of Justice College of Advocacy. I am a frequent speaker for Continuing Legal Education seminars in the area of litigation and trial strategies as well as law practice management. I have also been a speaker at several medical seminars dealing with medical- legal issues related to motor vehicle collision claims and cases. I have over 200 hours of CLE teaching credits. In addition I have had several articles published in national and regional law journals related to litigation issues and practice management. I am very proud of the fact that in 2008, I was inducted into the prestigious Academy of Trial Advocacy (ATA). I was only the second lawyer in Alabama to qualify for membership in the organization. (The ATA not only requires extensive litigation and trial experience for membership but also requires teaching credits, writing credits and an extensive commitment to public service.) I have also been recognized as one of the Top 100 trial attorneys in Alabama by the American Trial Lawyers Association. In addition since 2005 I have maintained an AV rating by Martindale Hubbell peer review rating service (the highest level attainable) and I have been classified as a Super Lawyer® by Lexis/Nexis, another peer review rating service.

I have been very blessed in my career as an attorney. These blessings have allowed me and my family to support a number of charities and community organizations. We have shared our time and resources with the Prichard Boys and Girls Club, SEEDS (Supporting Educational Enrichment in Daphne), the Elijah House (a Christian based residential transitional facility for men just released from prison) and the Prodissee Food Pantry. In addition I have served in leadership roles for area Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs and been a Coach for Upward Basketball. We also financially support numerous area charities as well as national charities, including St. Jude's Children Hospital in Memphis, the Ronald McDonald House, the Exchange Club Family Center, YouthReach- Gulf Coast, the Prodisee Food Pantry, Family Promise, USA Children and Women's Hospital, Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy, Daphne UMC-Prison Ministry Project, Wilmer Hall Children's Home, the Pre-School Center for the Sensory Impaired, the Salvation Army, the United Methodist Inner City Mission, PowerSurge 100 and a variety of Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs in our area. I am also proud of the fact that my advocacy work on behalf of drunk driving victims was recognized in 2005 with the Outstanding Public Service Award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
