Leland G Horton

Biographical Information

Leland G. Horton practices in the areas of commercial litigation and general civil practice; with particular experience in oil and gas matters, contractual matters, real estate litigation, environmental/toxic tort defense, creditor's rights litigation, commercial bankruptcy matters and other general business issues. Mr. Horton is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Louisiana. He also is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Shreveport Bar Association.

Mr. Horton has handled litigation and contract work in connection with numerous oil and gas matters, including for business disputes, operating agreements, lease agreements, production operations, pipelines, expropriations, environmental disputes and other related matters. Mr. Horton has also provided advice and analysis with respect to leases, production issues and royalty operations. Other relevant work includes real estate litigation, real estate transactions and work on various aspects of business agreements and relations.

Mr. Horton was born and lived much of his life in Coushatta, Louisiana and attended high school in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He graduated magna cum laude in 1997 from Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduating from TCU, Mr. Horton attended Tulane Law School on an academic scholarship. While at Tulane Law School, Mr. Horton became a member of the Tulane Law Review and was made a member of the Order of the Coif. Mr. Horton graduated magna cum laude from Tulane Law School in 2000.

Additionally, Mr. Horton currently serves as a board member for the Northwest Louisiana Pro Bono Project, and he has conducted presentations at a variety of seminars and CLE events. Mr. Horton's presentations have included discussions regarding recent legal developments in the oil and gas industry and discussions regarding federal HIPAA laws.
