JURY AWARDS $1 MILLION FOR BEATING BY GARY POLICE

A federal jury awarded a man nearly $1 million in damages on Thursday stemming from a 2007 incident where he was badly beaten by Gary police.Gary resident Percy Perry, 63, alleged that officers beat him so badly that his left eye was out of its socket and had to be surgically removed. On June 24, 2007, Perry said that he was trying to steal a window from an abandoned building on Gary’s west side ...
