Clarke Dummit

Biographical Information

Clarke Dummit was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1961. Clarke received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy from Vanderbilt University in May 1983, after spending the summer of 1981 in the U.S. Marines Officer's Candidate School. He received his Jurist Doctorate in May 1986 from Wake Forest University School of Law, and was admitted to the North Carolina and Georgia State Bars in 1986. Soon after he was admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court, U.S. Tax Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

During the 1980's, Clarke had a reputation as an aggressive prosecutor while working for the United States Attorney's Office in the Northern District of California. Under the Federal incorporation statutes, he was able to convict a person with DWI and have him sentenced to the maximum sentence allowable under California Law. This case made it all the way to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and was affirmed.

In 1990, Clarke Dummit founded The Dummit Law Firm, located in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He has focused on criminal trial work for years and has extensive experience in District and Superior Court, with thousands of courtroom hours devoted to representing his clients zealously. While Mr. Dummit focused his practice on criminal litigation, his firm carries the litigation experience to practice in Personal Injury, Family Law, Immigration, Social Security and Worker's Compensation.
