Biographical Information

BARRY A. NELSON is a Florida Bar Board Certified Tax and Wills, Trusts & Estates Attorney with an emphasis of integrating Estate Planning and Asset Protection using Family Limited Partnerships, LLCs and Trusts. Mr. Nelson is a Fellow of the American College and Trust Counsel and serves as Chair of its Asset Protection Committee. His practice also includes trust and estate administration and pre and post mortem planning. He is among 7 Florida estate planning attorneys named in Band 1 (the highest rating) in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business 2010 edition. He has been included in Best Lawyers in America since 1995. Mr. Nelson served as an adjunct professor for the University of Miami School of Law LL.M. in Taxation program from 1998-2009. He served 3 years as founding chairman of the Florida Bar's Asset Preservation Committee.

Mr. Nelson became involved with the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science in 1983. He was a co-founder and prior Chairman of the National Ambassadors; a program formed to bring a younger generation of leaders to the Weizmann Institute. Mr. Nelson and his wife Judith founded the Victory Center for Autism and Behavioral Challenges (a not-for-profit corporation) to provide a variety of programs for children with disabilities including their son, Jesse, who has autism. Mr. Nelson served as its Board Chairman from 2000-2008. Jesse's special needs trust, created by Mr. Nelson, holds the patent for an innovative inline tandem bicycle called the Buddy Bike®. The unique features of the Buddy Bike® allow special needs children to experience the thrill of riding a bicycle while gaining therapeutic results. The Buddy Bike is now used by hundreds of families in the United States, Israel and many other countries.
